40 Weeks Pregnant + 4 Days Update!

40 Weeks Pregnant + 4 Days Update!

First of all, I’m not in labour!  I thought that given I’m still waiting around for something to happen, I would do a little update for you. So I’m now 40 Weeks Pregnant + 4 days.  I’m overdue!  Although my original due date was May 1st and I’m definitely starting to think they should have never bought it forward :)

Here’s a shot of what I look like at 40 weeks pregnant (I’m wearing my new earrings from my little ASOS splurge!):

40 Weeks Pregnant + 4 Days Update - www.lovefrommim.com Overdue by 4 days 40 plus 4 weeks pregnant

Yes – huge big!  I do feel the size of a house.  A large house.  I’m not too concerned about my weight gain (famous last words) but everything is definitely starting to get a bit cramped in there.

Symptoms-wise, I’m feeling bored.  Is boredom a symptom?  I’m definitely trying to make the most of the quiet rest time though so I shouldn’t complain about that.

I haven’t dropped at all – you can see from my pic how high I’m carrying the baby – I was exactly the same last pregnancy.  In fact I only dropped a teeny bit then right at the end.  So no ‘lightening’ and relief from reflux for me – for now at least.

I had my midwife appointment yesterday and she says the baby is very low in my pelvis but still facing to my side so I think back labour is definitely on the cards.

She offered to do a membrane sweep but I declined – not looking for any invasive action at this point.

However, as my hospital does have a policy of not allowing any more than 10 days overdue, she did book me in for a ‘just in case’ induction next week.  So please keep your fingers crossed I have the baby before then :)

An induction isn’t the end of the world of course but it would obviously mean no home birth and no water labour or birth.  I will, of course, do whatever I need to do to ensure my baby births safely – the baby will always come first no matter what.

It was funny because last night, after she had said the baby was low, I could literally feel just how low it is – like I wouldn’t be surprised if it dropped out at any point.  That might be quite nice, as long as a caught it in time!

It’s very uncomfortable though and painful when I walk.  I’m also getting a really achy back high and mid way.  Not low down so not contractions.

The baby was also making some crazy big movements last night when I was sat watching TV – full blown tumbles and somersaults – to the point where I couldn’t sit up any more and had to go to bed.  Is it normal for babies to be SO energetic at this stage?

So that’s me for now – waiting, waiting, waiting!  I did do my gel nails today so feel marginally better about my appearance.

I don’t feel anxious about the possibility of induction – what will be, will be.  However, if you have any tips on encouraging the baby to make an appearance or your experiences of being induced, do let me know as I’d love to be as informed as possible.

Watch this space and wish me luck!

Good luck! I heard that you finally pop when you’re absolutely tired and fed up. Any signs?

That’s pretty much what happened! :)

Oh hun you look amazing :-) I’m sure you’re probably not feeling it right now but you look fabulous! Being overdue really is a bit pants isn’t it. My girls were both a few days late, I drank Raspberry leaf tea like my life depended on it, and used a LOT of Clary Sage oil. Bit of power walking/waddling works wonders too if you feel up to it. Thinking of you xx

I’m 3 days behind you! *waves* :D My bump is a lot lower, but baby is still not engaged and my heartburn certainly has lessened :/ My neighbour was chatting to us the other day and just came out with, “you should give her a damn good seeing to”, to my husband in answer to tips to bring on labour…I personally can’t think of anything worse at the moment!!

Good luck anyways & see you on the other side ;)

Oooh I hope you’re feeling well too! Yes, my midwife has recommended the same as your neighbour ha ha! :)

Just remember you don’t have to do what they say, it’s your baby and your body, their 10 days ‘over’ can only ever be a guideline. Several countries (France, Switzerland and more) consider 41 or 42 weeks term, so our NHS guideline of 40+10 is slightly ridiculous. My second was nearly two weeks over and third was a week over their guesses. Stick with your baby and wait for them to be ready. (If you do want to do something, the acupressure point on the lower leg worked for number two, although it was a very intense, fast labour because of it.) Good luck, and enjoy every second! #brilliantblogposts

Thank you so much! I can appeal to hold out for a few more days, I am sooo hoping to go naturally before then as the PGP means I can’t really walk any more unfortunately. I’ll definitely try the acupressure, thanks so much for that tip! :)

You look fab, definitely the happiest overdue photos I’ve seen haha :). Hope it happens naturally for you xx

Ouch, sounds like you’re getting really uncomfy. But almost there- yay! How exciting/terrifying! It’s interesting that the baby is low. To me your bump looks really high. Like, get out of my lungs, little one, high.

    Best of luck! Take care

The bump is so high but the baby is so low – weird! GET OUT baby ha ha! :)

Good luck! I know you’re overdue but you look lovely!! Beautiful pics to look back on x

    • 30th April 2015 / 12:28 pm

Thanks so much Donna! I look huuuuge :)

  11. 29th April 2015 / 8:36 pm

Wow, baby does look high. My midwife told me that second babies move up and down much easier so it’s not anything to worry about especially if you can feel the baby is low. That probably explains the movement too. My bump is definitely more active than my first – those head butts keep coming! x

    • 30th April 2015 / 12:28 pm

It’s soooo high up! High bump, low baby – weird! Hope you’re feeling well :) :)

Good luck! Hope you don’t have to wait much longer. At least you’re in good company with the Royals!
