5 Ways to get more Retweets
It took me a long time to get into Twitter and whilst it isn’t my favourite social media platform, I do like to dip in and out throughout the week to see what’s happening, chat to friends and share some of my blog posts.
In just over 2 years, I’ve grown my Twitter following from zero to 11.6k followers – if you’re interested in knowing my tips on how I did that, do let me know in the comments.
For now though, here are my 5 ways to get more Retweets on Twitter:
1. Be on Twitter!
By this I mean, be active on Twitter. As I mentioned before, it isn’t my favourite social media platform as it’s a bit fast-moving at times for me. My favourites are Facebook and Instagram. However, I visit Twitter at least once per day and catch up with some of my blogging friends, favourite brands and join in on some conversations.
That’s the great thing about Twitter, conversations are in the open and it’s a free-for-all in joining in!
Make sure you’re favouriting and replying to other’s Tweets and get noticed.
2. RT others
The nicest thing you can do on Twitter is to Retweet others’ tweets. So scroll through your feed and share some RTing love on the tweets that catch your eye.
In return, those accounts will often share the love back and RT one of your recent tweets.
3. Post RT-worthy tweets
I’m not going to tell you what kind of content to tweet – it’s your channel, not mine! However, Tweets with images are known to get more RTs and tweets with hashtags are found by a much bigger pool of people.
So if you’re sharing a blog post, some news or just something you think is fun, think about adding a relevant image and a couple of hashtags to increase your chances of getting it RTed.
4. Make things easy for others
Make use of the Pinned Tweet option on your Twitter account. When you’ve tweeted something you’re proud of or want to highlight, it’s a great way of getting increased visibility on it. Also, if you actively RT others (which is lovely!) then you don’t want your own tweets to be lost in a sea of RTs so it’s good to have your own at the top.
Here’s my current one:
When someone follows me on Twitter, I hop on to their profile to see what they’re about. The Pinned Tweet tells me a lot about what I can expect from their feed and helps me to decide whether to follow them back or not!
5. Say Thank You!
If you have the time to do so, I think it’s really nice to thank others for RTing you. Of course, you might miss a few or be too busy but if you can do this, it’s nice to be polite and show appreciation.
While you’re thanking them, why not hop on to their profile and RT their Pinned Tweet!
I hope you’ve found these tips on ways to get more retweets on Twitter.
