The Menzies Sydney Review
Last week I attended the Kids Business Bloggers Brunch – it was a networking event in Sydney for parenting bloggers. It was SO much fun! I stayed over night at The Menzies Sydney.
I had a great time at the brunch meeting like-minded bloggers and networking with some fabulous brands.
I used to live in Sydney for years when I first moved to Australia in 2007. Since coming back from a working holiday in the UK, we moved up the coast to Newcastle and we’ve escaped the busy city.
I haven’t had the opportunity to come back to Sydney much during my treatment so I really wanted to make this weekend count!
After the Bloggers Brunch drew to a close, I made my way to the hotel to check in. In a crazy coincidence, Eva from The Multitasking Woman was also staying there so we Uber’d together.
I knew where The Menzies was, as used to work in the city, but hadn’t stayed there before and the first thing that impressed me was the glamour! I’m so used to staying in ‘modern’ hotels with clean lines and lots of ‘white’ but The Menzies is very ‘old Sydney’ with original features and beautiful decor.
In the foyer are two huge chandeliers:
My husband and kids were due to come with me but ended up changing plans to come the second day so I ended up with a lovely big bedroom all to myself – BLISS! Apart from recent hospital stays, I’ve never had time away from the family and as much as I missed them, this was a lovely treat.
My room had two beds with one ensuite. I love hotel beds – for some reason I always sleep much better on them and this night was no exception.
The bathroom was perfectly equipped with a bath with overhead shower, toilet and sink with a large mirror and lots of lovely Peter Morrissey toiletries to choose from.
Despite being small, the bathroom had a large window to the front of the hotel with a lot of natural light.
The full length mirror was a bonus!
Although I hadn’t brought my laptop with me, there was a desk with plenty of space to work from if I had chosen to.
The room also had a coffee table and chair, wardrobe complete with ironing board and iron and a beverage area with a mini bar.
The room I stayed in is one of 446 in total ranging in size from Queen, King, Double Double, Triple and Twin.
I found the accommodation comfortable, roomy and having everything I needed for a really lovely, relaxing stay. Although it was in the heart of the city, when I arrived back after a night out it was so quiet in my room and great for a peaceful nights sleep.
Staying in The Menzies felt like a real treat and from the moment I arrived to the moment I left, staff bent over backwards to help me with my (many) bags and with anything I needed.
The queue to check in was very small and I was served quickly by smiling, helpful staff.
I loved the hint of glamour displayed in every room, it felt like a real treat to stay there.
Could they make any improvements? Well there were some very subtle signs of wear and tear which I suppose is to be expected. The carpet and wallpaper in my room had some minor scuffing but it was barely noticeable.

Disclosure: I was offered a complimentary stay at The Menzies in exchange for my honest review.
