5 Things I am Grateful For

5 Things I am Grateful For

5 Things I am Grateful for is brought to you by Nuffnang and Circa Home.

Last week I wrote my first Happy List and I loved having the opportunity to sit down and really think about the things that had made me happy.

It was such a lovely, positive thing to do and the more happy things I remembered, the happier I felt!

So I’m going to make an effort to write down a list of the things I am grateful for and happy things that have happened in my week more often. I might publish the lists here too sometimes.

Here are the 5 things I am grateful for this week:

1.  Watching my baby boy learning to crawl

He’s a bit of a late developer I think but finally, at 11 months old, Mini is on the move! He’s so pleased with himself too and it’s the cutest thing to watch him eye up his target and crawl his way to it.

I might regret celebrating this when I have to start running around after him now!

2.  Being able to work from home

I feel so lucky to be able to have a home office set up in our new house. It’s in the living room so I’m never far away from everyone else and I have a lovely view of the garden.

I’ve worked from home for many years but this is the first time I’ve had a a real home office set up.

I love sitting at my new desk, lighting a candle and writing.

This week I’ve been burning this beautiful limited edition Honeyflower and Sandalwood candle from Circa Home. It’s a lovely blend of honeyflower, sandalwood, cucumber and vanilla and it’s so soothing.

Circa Home believe life is about the little things, sharing, loving and giving to the people you care about and I couldn’t agree more. The candle arrived with a little “Today I’m Grateful For…” notepad with room to complete one sheet a day – perfect timing for me!

This would also make a beautiful Mother’s Day gift! Circa Home are currently running a competition to win this limited edition Gratitude collection for yourself and someone you love! Check their website for more details.

I spend a lot of time on Pinterest, pinning gorgeous pics of other home offices – you can follow that board here:

3.  Getting through Chemo

Yes, I feel ill. Yes, it feels never-ending. Yes, I’d rather not be going through any of this. But I am, it’s happening and thankfully, I’m getting nearer and nearer to the end of treatment. Hooray!

I only have 7 chemo sessions left and then a month of radiotherapy and then hopefully I am DONE!

4.  My amazing Friends

My phone beeps all day long with messages and calls from my wonderful friends checking on me and I’m so grateful for that.

For those who remember my appointments, offer to come with me, call to wish me luck and afterwards to see how I feel, thank you thank you thank you. You know who you are and I love you so much.

5.  My Mum and Dad

My parents came over from the UK to look after me a couple of months ago and I’m so grateful to have them here. They’re such a brilliant support to me and my husband and the kids just love having them here.

The difference it has made to our lives is immense. We have a lovely clean house, dinners cooked, kids bathed, lifts to my appointments – the list is endless of the ways they have helped us. More than all of that is just physically having them nearby again and I never want them to leave.

What are you grateful for?

I’m delighted you’re still finding so much to be grateful for, Mim – it’s really inspiring and a reminder for those of us who complain about mundane things to keep things in perspective. It’s also great to reaffirm that your friends are still there for you – you learn so much more about who your real friends are in times of adversity.

Thank you Tim! You are quite right – this whole process has shown me who my real friends are as well as bringing some wonderful new and inspiring people into my life :)

I’ve never had a home office either and have been thinking of commandeering a corner somewhere to make my own instead of using the dining room table. Love the idea of having a candle on your desk! #thelist

I am grateful for the love and friendship in my life, my husband and our beautiful boys, my health. And right now I am really grateful for having a never ending supply of muslins to wipe the snot that is streaming from the little ones nose! And chocolate. I am always grateful for chocolate.
It’s so lovely when parents move heaven and earth for their children, no matter how big they are :)
