10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

The very lovely Natalie at one of my favourite blogs, Confessions of a Crummy Mummy tagged me to do the 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me bloggers tag – hurray!

I loved reading her post about finding out that she too is scared of the dark and finding out about her hidden talent – you’ll have to click here to find out what that is :)

10 Things You Didn't Know About Me - www.mamamim.com

Being somewhat of an over-sharer already, this was quite difficult to do.  I’m going on the assumption that you haven’t already read the A-Z of Me and if you have, apologies for any duplication.

So answering Natalie’s questions, here are the 10 things you didn’t know about me:

1. Fry up or cereal?

Hmm I’m so boring and have toast for breakfast…this is not a good start, please bear with me and don’t click away.  I don’t drink milk so cereal is out.  Let’s go fry up then.

2. Have you ever met anyone famous?

On one night out in Manchester I met a very famous Australian who shall rename nameless due to recently being incarcerated.  I then met ‘Roy Glover’ from Emmerdale and ‘Des Barnes’ of ex-Corrie fame.  All in the same nightclub.  Ok, drinking establishment.  Ok, it was Walkabout – stop judging me.

3. If you had an hour to produce a signature bake, what would it be?

I’m a fairly rubbish baker but I would do my very best to create something chocolately, without calories.  Then I would sell the recipe and make millions!  I’m having chocolate cheesecake cravings at the moment so it would be a baked chocolate cheesecake.  Nom.

4. When did you start your blog and why?

I started in 2013 on Miss M’s maternity leave but then I stopped almost immediately when life got busy.  I restarted when I found out I was pregnant with Mini M and have been having a ball blogging every since.  It’s so therapeutic to write everything down and is a brilliant online diary of what I experienced through pregnancy, birth and post partum.  I’ve also made many wonderful blogging friends and really wish I’d started a lot sooner.  I recently wrote a more detailed post on why I started blogging if you wanted to know more.

5. What’s the best thing you’ve been asked to review or try out as a blogger?

Most recently it has to be our break to Bluestone Wales – it was such a wonderful weekend with my little family staying in a luxury lodge.  We had the best time, it was so relaxing and our first holiday as a family of 4.

6. Have you ever turned down a review or experience?

I always turn down any review opportunities that are not relevant to me or my family or any products or experiences that I do not rate.  I just couldn’t sleep at night recommending a product I didn’t love myself.

My blog started as an online outlet for me and remains that – although I love having the opportunity to review products that I think my friends, family and readers might be interested in, it isn’t a ‘review site’ as such so I limit the number of reviews I do.

I much prefer to ramble about whatever else is in my head – have you noticed?

7. Is there one blogger you particularly admire, and why?

I’m sure Aby at You Baby Me Mummy is a very common answer for this question but I really love her blog.  She posts on such a wide variety of topics and so frequently too so there is always something new for me to read.  As well as being a brilliant blogger, Aby is also so helpful whenever I have a question for her and is really engaged with her readers.

Our daughters are the same age so I love seeing and hearing what Baby is up to as well!

That’s enough fan-girling now, I’ll stop.

8. Where do you see your blog in five years’ time?

I see my blog in exactly the same place and stage as it is now – as my own personal outlet/diary – my own corner of the internet.

I hope I still have the time and passion to keep blogging because it really has been so rewarding for me and my family.  Blogging quickly became my favourite hobby ever and has now progressed to become a part-time career too – it’s wonderful!

9. What’s your favourite holiday destination?

So far it’s a toss up between Beijing where I met my husband and Bali where we honeymooned.  Purely because of the destinations, sorry Mr M!

Beijing was my first stop when I embarked on a travelling sabbatical in 2007 and I just loved the culture and the amazing places I got to visit.

Bali was the most beautiful and relaxing honeymoon destination and I would love to visit again someday.

10. You couldn’t get through the weekend without…?

Chocolate, wine and sleep.  In that order.  On repeat :)

So that’s me done.  Now I have to nominate another 10 bloggers to answer my own 10 questions so here you go (and apologies if you’ve already done this):

Talya at Motherhood the Real Deal

Claire at Tin Box Traveller

    • 18th August 2015 / 9:13 pm

Thanks for tagging me! You know, I wanted to be a journalist all through school and then did work experience at the very small local paper – big mistake, put me right off! There were only so many “someone’s stolen my wheelybin” stories I could take with a straight face :) I’d love to pursue it in the future x x
