There are 40 weeks to 40 years old for me! I considered writing a bucket list – one of those “40 things to do before you turn 40” lists. But I don’t really think I can think of that many.
Plus, I mean, who has the time anyway – I’d just end up scrapping it!
So instead, I thought I might just write a little weekly post on the theme of turning 40 and saying goodbye to my 30s.
But why the birthday fanfare?
So fluff it, I’m going to do a big old countdown to my 40th birthday!
I’m going to be sharing some of my hopes for moving into my 40s and some goals I have before I get there. I also want to reflect on my 30s and I’ll do that starting now.
I quite liked my 30s actually
My 30s was definitely my favourite decade yet. In the last ten years I have:
- Traveled (a bit of) the world
- Met “The One” in China
- Emigrated from the UK to Australia…twice
- Lived in 11 different homes
- Got married…twice (to the same man, let me add)
- Had two babies
- Got cancer
- Got rid of cancer
- Lost friends
- Made better friends
- Gained way more fine lines and wrinkles
- Lost my hair…all of it
- Grown my hair back
- Put on weight
- Lost some of it
- Started working for myself
I’m older and wiser and exhausted and inspired.
The next 40 weeks are going to be amazing – I have so many plans and wonderful things to look forward to.
Then I’m ready to wholeheartedly embrace my new decade!
If you’ve already turned 40, how did it make you feel? Any words of advice?
