5 Steps To Turning 2020 Around!

Are you feeling a bit unsteady, unmoored and unmotivated? Feeling despondent is perfectly normal considering everything that has happened so far in 2020.

When we think back six months ago to when we were ringing in a new decade, making resolutions and setting goals as a new year inspires us to do, we had no idea the events that lay in store that would derail us.

As we pass the halfway point of the year, now it feels like the time to pause and reflect on what has been the most challenging year many of us can ever remember. To press reset on our intentions, and move forward into the final months of 2020 with a renewed sense of purpose.

Here are Mummy Mojo’s five steps to getting your 2020 back on track: 

1Review and reset your goals and intentions

Whether you compiled a list of new year resolutions, created a vision board to manifest your dream life, or just had thoughts of what you wanted your life to look this year, chances are these goals have been derailed by the curveballs 2020 has thrown at you.

First of all, THAT’S OK! Be kind to yourself. These have been truly unprecedented times. Now is the time to process and accept everything that has happened so that we can move forward stronger and with a renewed sense of purpose. Take some time to review your goals, think about what is important to you, and reset your intentions for the remainder of the year. For extra motivation, why not write them in a journal or create a brand-new vision board to inspire you every day?

People who write down their goals are 42% more likely to achieve them than those who don’t. Telling a friend or accountability buddy increases this rate to 78%.

2. Devote 30 minutes a day to YOUR sacred essentials

During this period of lockdown and restrictions it has been hard to stick to any sort of self-care routine. As life slowly returns to normal, setting a daily routine that dedicates time to you and your needs will help you keep focused on achieving your goals.

Think about your physical, spiritual and mental needs, and book an appointment with yourself every day to honour them. Choose something that lights you up, that makes your soul sing. Just taking on this simple practice will enhance your happiness and health in so many ways.

3. Make space for daily gratitude

One of the best ways to move forward from challenging and traumatic times is to shift your focus on the positives and be grateful for all the good things in your life. We can do this with a daily gratitude practice. Life might not look how we thought it would six months ago, but when you consciously practice gratitude you will find there is always something to be grateful for.

There are many ways you can make gratitude a ritual. You can start every day by thinking about all the things you feel grateful for in that moment. If you want to involve the family you can take it in turns going around the dinner table listing things you are grateful for. Or you can keep a gratitude journal and at the end of each day write down five things you are grateful for from the day.

4. Replenish your Soul

One of the best ways to recharge your batteries is to relax and have some fun! After the stress and funk left by lockdown, use the easing of restrictions, opening of state borders, and the school holidays as an excuse to let your hair down.

Take a road trip, explore somewhere new, take in some culture, discover the hidden gems of regional Australia. Celebrate Christmas in July, walk barefoot, cook outdoors, wonder at the stars, tell stories. Whatever you do, relax and have some fun!

5. Reboot Your Health

If stress, comfort eating and alcohol have been more abundant than you are used to in 2020, then there has never been a more important time to heal your liver and give your digestive system a break.
