Are you new to planning? There are so many planners out there, but not all planners are created equal. Some planners have more features than others. Some are better for certain types of people, and some, well, they aren’t as good overall.
As an avid planner myself, I know that you want to find the best planners to start your planning journey as a beginner. I’m talking about a planner that is easy to use, that will keep you motivated, that will help you reach your goals and keep you on track, but there are so many options out there!
To help you out, here is my review of the 15 best planners for beginners in 2021! I’ll share which ones have the most features and benefits and why I recommend them so that you can choose one that works for you!

The Best Planners for Women New to Planning
A planner can be whatever you want it to be. There are great planners for moms to keep track of family events, work and children’s commitments, or you might use a planner as a personal journal or even a gratitude journal. Or, like me, you might use one of the many planners for women for every aspect of your life. One thing’s for sure; it is an excellent tool for managing mental overload!
A planner is not just a To-Do list. Planning can eventually turn into a habit that can help you get more done and make you feel more in control. Planners can help you work towards some of your biggest life goals simply by breaking them down into more achievable small steps.
You might like a structured, list-style planner or prefer a planner for creatives, like a personalized bullet journal, where you can use your creativity in many ways. You might choose daily planners for women for the space they provide, or you might like something that offers a week to view so you can plan more efficiently.
Best Planners for 2021 – How to Pick the Best One for You
Even though I’m about to outline my pick of the best 15 planners of 2021, it’s still essential that you consider exactly what you need. They may all be great planners, but they won’t all necessarily be a good fit. Consider the following before you buy:
1. What will you be using it for?
Layout and size can be very different from planner to planner. If you’re a list maker like I am, you’ll need something with adequate space. On the other hand, if you’re using it to make dot points or schedule appointments, you could get away with a planner with smaller amounts of space.
Daily, weekly or monthly planners, which will suit you best? If you like to plan a month in advance, you will need to look for a planner that has this month at a view layout.
2. Where will you use it?
Imagine your day-to-day movements and how a planner will fit in. For example, will you need to take it with you to meetings and, if so, will it need to fit into a small handbag? Does it need to be a slim design? How much space will it take up on your desk?
3. Is the look and feel important to you?
Planner aesthetic is a big deal. The look and the feel of a planner can make or break the motivation you get to use it. Select a planner that makes you feel good, one that makes you want to get organized, and that makes you want to write in your neatest handwriting! Not only that, make sure the design is practical. For example, do you want your planner to lay flat on your desk? It can be extremely frustrating to get a planner that won’t easily stay open if that’s what you’re after.
4. How much are you looking to spend?
Of course, finding the best planner for you is a priority. You’ll be using it every day and want it to work for you. But this doesn’t mean you should ignore your budget. By every means, consider your budget but also consider options like undated planners that won’t go to waste if you don’t use your planner as much as you’d hoped.
Check out the table below to work out which option will work best for you and your needs.
I’ll be updating this guide regularly so keep checking back. If I’ve missed off your favourite planner, comment below and I’ll add it!
