An Easy Night Skin Care Routine!

My night skin care routine has changed over the years, especially since becoming a mum and having very little time to myself.

On one hand, I’m generally exhausted before I go to bed, so I want quick skin care steps that are not going to take a long time.

On the other hand, this is sometimes my only time of day when it’s quiet (if the kids are asleep!) and I can grab a bit of “me time”. Same for you?

So, while I don’t want a 10 step skin care routine that will take forever, I do want to take a few moments to unwind, relax and look after my skin before bed.

Lately, as the evenings have gotten chillier, I’ve enjoyed wrapping up in my PJs and dressing gown, taking off my make up and starting my evening skin care routine at around 8pm.

On evenings where the kids fall to sleep quickly, and I don’t have much to do around the house, I’ll even light a candle and run a bath.
MooGoo Vanilla Cream Candle - Love from Mim

Oh, how times have changed since having kids – in the “olden days” I would be out every night I could and probably going to bed with my make up still on – what a mistake that was!

I just don’t have the energy and time (or babysitters!) these days, especially during the week.

My nighttime skincare routine features some beautiful skin care products from MooGoo Skin Care, who are the kind sponsors of this post.

This is the skin care order I use my products to get the best result.

My Evening Skin Care Routine

Time-permitting, I’ll run a bath, turn on Spotify and light a candle – my favourite fragrances are always sweet ones, such as the MooGoo Vanilla Cream Candle.

Then I follow these three skin care routine steps:

Step: 1 Remove Make Up

While the bath is running, I’ll wash my face and remove every trace of make up by double cleansing. This is the skin care routine order I follow even when I’m not running a bath though.

MooGoo Oil Cleansing Method is the perfect start to this. It’s a gentle, oil-based cleanser that cleans deep into pores to remove even heavy make-up.

MooGoo Oil Cleansing Method & MooGoo Gentle Exfoliating Powder - Love from Mim

It contains drawing oils to dissolve oil and make up and wash them away but also moisturising oils, like Jojoba, to hydrate skin.

It’s only in recently years that I’ve embraced using oils on my oily skin. I always worried that by adding oils, I would make my skin shiner and more prone to breakouts. It doesn’t though – and it helps my skin stay soft and feel much smoother.

This oil smells just like a spa! It’s also neither too thick or too runny to use and doesn’t leave an oily residue on my skin after I’ve washed it off.

Step 2: Exfoliating

The second part of night time cleansing is to use MooGoo Gentle Exfoliating Powder.

While my skin and hands are still wet, I’ll rub this product in my hands to create a paste and then apply on to my skin.

If I have five minutes, I’ll leave this on as a nourishing mask before washing away and otherwise, I will gently exfoliate and wash off before hopping in the bath.

There’s something so refreshing about having a clean, make-up free face.

I always double cleanse now, even if I haven’t been wearing make-up. My skin just doesn’t feel clean otherwise.

This scrub is made of very fine particles, so I can get deep into my skin’s pores and around my nose and chin. It has dual exfoliating properties: salicylic acid and rice bran, to deeply cleanse, stimulate blood flow into the face and moisturise my skin at the same time.

I like to use it as part of my morning routine too in the shower.

Step 3: Moisturise

When I’m out of the bath, I’ll splash cold water on my face, pat dry and then apply MooGoo Night Time Face Cream. This is the last steps in my daily skin routine before bed.

Moogoo Night Time Face Cream - Love from Mim

When we’re asleep, our skin works hard to repair itself and this product works best at this time. Read more about that here. It has lactic acid, an Alpha Hyrdroxy Acid, to help firm up skin, smooth and reduce lines. I love how MooGoo describes this like little pac men munching away at all of the dead skin cells on the skins surface. They can munch away to their heart’s content on my face!

This cream contains restorative ingredients and powerful antioxidants to restore skin’s glow, suppleness and promote circulation.

I love this cream as an every day night cream as it’s so lightweight. Many night creams I’ve tried are rich and very thick. This can be great for hydration but I don’t like going to bed with skin that feel sticky.

This Natural Night Time Face Cream isn’t heavy and sinks into my skin quickly. When I wake up in the morning, my skin feels so soft.

Summary

So, without the bath, this nighttime skin routine order is super quick and relaxing and helps my skin look much healthier and more awake the next day.

As I’m approaching my 40th birthday, I’m starting to see the changes in my skin much quicker than before.

I’ve always struggled with dark under eye circles, I suppose they’re genetic? I just feel I look tired all the time though – even when I’m not. Ok, well I’m always feeling tired to some degree.

Taking the time to look after myself isn’t top of my list every day, even when it should be. Sneaking in a five minute night time skin care routine might not seem like much, but it’s a bit of quiet time to myself and makes me look and feel much more refreshed the next day. I think most people can find five minutes for a night face routine just before bed.

Having a night time routine for my skin has now become a non-negotiable for me. I can’t imagine going to bed with make up on again – some days I don’t wear it at all. Well unless I’m leaving the house because I wouldn’t want to frighten anyone.

My skin care routine is check to make sure the dark circles arent to visible and last nights deep sleep dribble hasn’t dried to my cheek then rush out the door for school drop off. After tonights session at the hairdresser with only my head popping out of their “cloak”, all i could focus on was my face. It was then i realised im going to have to put in a whole lot more effort!!

I’ve used MooGoo hair products and psoriasis-eczema cream for a long time, but haven’t tried their facial range. This would be a great introduction!

My current skin care routine is using garniers charcoal face mask. And for my moisturiser dermaveen as I get eczema. But I’ve heard the moo goo range is great for people with eczema and I would love to try it on my skin!

A quick facewash and mousturise. No time with kids. Would love some more nourishment though and I find myself buying this brand more and more. I’m yet to try these products.

I exfoliate my face every morning in the shower, and cleanse and moisturise every night. A reaction to medication has caused my skin to get dry blotchy patches, so I am always on the hunt to try new products, particularly those that are more natural without the nasties! Would love to give the moo goo range a try ?

Currently I’m lucky to moisturize half the week. As a mature age first time mum – with a 3 year old angel that has sleeping issues – I would love to pamper my face, and bring back its shimmer and glow xxxx PLEASE SPOIL ME!

I use the Moogoo psoriasis cream, which was recommended by a specialist to combat it due to a nervous condition, so far it has held it at bay and I continue to use it till this day

My skin routine is sketchy at best and now I’m paying for it with flaky, dry skin. My sister recommended MooGoo to me as an easy and effective routine (perfect for me) however it’s not carried in the pharmacies I’ve remembered to enquire at so far. Hopefully, it will help my memory as well… :D

I use a cream cleanser followed by the moogoo eczema and psoriasis cream. When I wear makeup I use wipes to remove before cleansing. I like using natural products as I have very sensistive skin.

I have always looked after my skin which is sensitive. I cleanse morning and night, tone, serum, day or night cream, during the day I use sunscreen and at night an eye cream.
I have heard a lot about MooGoo But have never tried it. I do find it enticing due to the fact that there are no nasty cancer causing ingredients as I have very high cancer rates in my family. Plus I feel that these products would take care of my sensitive skin.

At the moment I am using travel mini’s of the Elizabeth Arden skincare range that was a free GWP, as I bought a brightening eye cream. I’m trying to get rid of dark spots from pregnancy. I saw this Moo Goo range on your instagram it looks interesting I love that it is all natural!

What is this ‘night time routine’ you speak of? Surely a scrub with a flannel is perfect for mid 40’s skin? Or perhaps not. I need help. ??

My skin routine have a shower wash my face then night cream that’s it

Since being in hospital earlier this year, I figure I am doing well if I remember morning/evening skin care. Usually it’s sensitive shampoo in the morning when I was my hair in the shower. The evening is pot luck using up whatever is in the bathroom cabinet until everything is used up. The one product I never miss is the exfoliating scrub. How my skin feels tells me when I need it and it makes a huge difference in how my skin and I feel! Love to pamper me with MooGoo, I think I deserve something nice this year :) Thanks!

  30. Chloe Heatherill
    / 9:32 pm

I’m a “demand and supply” kinda gal; if my skin is looking like… well, crap!, then I go hell-for-leather with every skin care product in my cupboard! Otherwise, I am a slack and tired Mum who wears poorly applied make-up to bed and washes it off the next morning in the shower then repeat. However, in the past year I have gone through hormonal changes becoming pregnant and then with postpartum breastfeeding and sleep deprivation my skin is really struggling despite the facial cocktail I apply morning and night. I have previously purchased MooGoo products for my daughter’s eczema issues and I would love to try this Mumma MooGoo goodie pack on my current problem skin!

There has many ways to maximise skincare results for my healthy radiant skin everyday. I love Australian’s favourite organic skincare products for my beauty ritual because these skincare products have pure natural ingredients and free harsh chemicals. Plus, they cheaper than most iconic international brands. MooGoo Skincare is one of Australian’s favourite brands with free fragrances, finest organic ingredients and free chemicals. It has many positive reviews about MooGoo products from happy customers. I am sure that my family would love this brilliant MooGoo skincare prize as much as I do .

I cleanse at night and moisturise in the morning but that about it. I’d love to win because as I ‘ve got older I’ve found my skin breaks out in hormonal acne. I may need a shrink as it’s worse with emotional turmoil! Perhaps these products could be the answer to my prayers!

  33. Julie Figueroa

I’ve been using Kora organics for my skin routine, including a cleanser, toner, moisturiser & skin oil, but would love to try another natural product like MooGoo. Loved reading about it on your blog.

My current skincare routine is pretty simple as I don’t wear makeup, but my skin gets very sweaty and grimy from work as a domestic cleaner. Right before my shower I put a headband on then cleanse or exfoliate my face then rinse thoroughly under the shower avoiding any soap or shampoo getting on my face. Right before bed I use a natural face oil or moisturiser. I would love to win this prize because the review you did sounds awesome Mim and I love trying new products.

    My bedtime skincare routine,
Has been the same since my teens.
Brush my teeth, then wash my face:
Remove all makeup without a trace.
Next is only if my skin is really dry:
I know I should do it every nigh.
    I moisturise my aging skin:
The MooGoo range I need to win!
    I’ve heard such wonderful reviews,
From various pages and now from you!
I hate spending money on things for me:
With a hubby, a mortgage, and sons (three!).
I’d love to win and try it out:
I’d love the products: no doubt!

I buy things with good intentions and use them for a day or two then completely forget about them, I’m turning 40 next July so I really should think about my skin more. Maybe this would be the kick in the pants I need to do that? Hahaha
