How DOES period underwear work? PLUS 15% OFF!

Today I want to answer one of the most common questions my readers and friends ask me about my experience with Modibodi’s women’s leak proof underwear: how does period underwear work?

And I get it – it’s the no. 1 question I had before I started using them too. I was paranoid about leaks, mess or smells and didn’t have much faith in them working for me.

So, let’s talk about it.

If you’ve spent any time online in the past few years, you’ll have seen the growing buzz about how we can be more sustainable.

For me, it’s the small changes that over time have a big impact on my budget and environmental footprint. I’m not about to try to overhaul my whole house, way of thinking and purchasing because it’s just too overwhelming.

But there are some small changes that I can make that add up to making a big difference to the environment – and to how much I’m spending too. Reducing the amount of sanitary items I buy and use was a big start.

Enter…Modibodi! If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that I talk about Modibodi’s range of leak proof underwear a lot.

Why? Well because they’re amaze – they work. I’m not reviewing them today – but you can read my Modibodi review here and how I think they’re the best period underwear (ever) here.

First up, what are period undies?

It’s period absorbing underwear that you can wear on every day of your period without worrying about leakage.

This means less environmental waste and a money-saving opportunity when you no longer need to buy pads and tampons.

How do they work?

Modibodi’s range includes leakproof period undies with Modifier Technology™. It’s special tech for effective period proof undies that give you confidence and peace of mind.

This absorbent period underwear is only 3mm thick and holds up to two tampons worth with a top later to wick away moisture, fight bacteria and stop smells.

The middle layer safely absorbs fluid to lock it away and the bottom layer has extra waterproofing.

The Modibodi leakproof period underwear range has undies for all flows – whether you’re at the start, middle or end of your period. This includes all sizes to plus size period undies. You can check out their sizing guide here.

How to wash Modibodi undies

I get asked most how to get period blood out of underwear – and it’s easier than you’d think.

After use, it’s as simple as:

  1. Rinse the undies under the cold water tap until the water runs clear
  2. Cold machine wash – doesn’t have to be immediately
  3. Hang to dry.

Modibodi’s reusable period underwear can be worn time and time again – throughout your period or all month round.

Summary: how does period underwear work

Modibodi’s range of washable period underwear is easy to wear and wash. I generally throw mine in the normal cycle throughout the month and then rinse before washing in my period week.

The range caters for all shapes and sizes and you can wear them throughout the whole of your cycle.

My faves are the Sensual Boy legs – and there are lots of choices including maternity, activewear and swimming too.
