We were very kindly sent a LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate for each of our two kids and they’ve been putting them to the test.
You can buy a LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate online here in the US, here in Australia and here in the UK.
For such a long time, we’ve had to say no to the kids when they’ve asked to play with out smartphones or iPad. Apart from letting them take photos or watch an occasional YouTube show, we just didn’t see the benefit of them using them.
LeapFrog LeapPads however, well they’re a different story!
Wondering can you get YouTube on LeadPad Ultimate?
Can you watch YouTube on LeapPad Ultimate? You don’t need to.
LeapFrog LeapPad Review – What is a LeapPad?
For kids aged 3 and up, they’re a great kid-safe tablet. They’re preloaded with fun and educational content that helps to build core learning skills in mathematics, reading and science. This is especially key for us as our daughter is about to start school next year. As my son is approaching three, I looked up some LeapFrog LeapPad reviews, particularly LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate reviews, and found that a lot of families love their LeapPad for toddlers as well as older kids.

Content also includes music, puzzles, logic and shows kids how to take and edit photos and videos. So rather than just being a toy to occupy kids, it also help educate them and sparks creativity too.
My daughter loves taking photos on my phone after she has watched me take them too. Now she has her own, kid-proof camera built into her LeapPad!
How to Set Up a LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate
It’s super simple to set up a LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate – first remove it from the box and plug in the adapter.

A Quick Start Guide is included in the pack which shows you in 5 simple steps how to:
- Power Up
- Connect to Wi-Fi
- Register your LeapPad Parent Account
- Download the App
- Play and Learn
So in minutes your little one can be exploring the includes app and taking pics and videos to their hearts content! There is a LeapPad Ultimate instruction manual included too and a USB cable.
There’s a camera on both the front and back so they can take pics of their travels or themselves.
After setting up my Parent Account, I received an email to confirm it. I then had the choice of enabling or disabling the LeapPad App Store. I chose to disable for now so that my kids can’t see snippets of new apps. It’s easier for us to keep things simple and have all of their attention on getting to grips with the content already preloaded for now.
After signing in, I set up each of their own accounts – you can add multiple children to one device too.

LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate Apps
LeapPad Ultimate Planet Goop: Cosmic Cleanup
Apart from taking images, my daughter has loved playing a game called Planet Goop, Cosmic Cleanup! It’s one of the free LeapPad apps. It’s a really sweet game where she’s learned about a planet that’s been overrun by rubbish and it’s her job to clean it up.
Using the LeapPad pen, she learns what rubbish has littered the planet and the differences in what needs to be put in the rubbish bin and what items can be recycled.
In the game she uses the Leap Pad pen to drag the rubbish to the right bin.
I love how this simple game also helps to educate her on making a difference to our planet and how we can recycle paper, glass and metal. It complements what we teach her at home on a daily basis.
LeapPad Ultimate Pet App
My daughter’s firm favourite app is the Pet one – where she can create and personalise her own LeapPad pet! Of course she picks the Unicorn every time – so on trend.

Visually, it’s easy to see how to play the game and select your pet but there are handy audio hints to help too.
After personalising your pet, next comes naming it. Miss is learning to read and this is a great opportunity for us to show her new words, names, that she can try to say and spell.
Tapping on the pet brings it to life in such a sweet way. Another cute feature is that the pets can make friends too, play games with them or go on a play date! Your pets home can be decorated and you can travel through different rooms in the house.
It’s a lovely, game with multiple opportunities for your child to learn, be creative and express themselves.
When they’re done with any game of app, they can just tap the Home button to return to the main menu.
LeapFrog Tablet Review: Our thoughts on the LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate for Kids
We love this award-winning LeapFrog kids tablet and have found it a great toy for rainy days and or when we can’t play outdoors. It’s also a fantastic game to take away when traveling with your kids – if they’re stuck in a car, on a plane or at an airport, this will keep them occupied in a fun way.
I love that the kids are learning through play. It’s a great quality device that’s light for them to hold.
They’re doubly safe too – firstly, in my Parent Account I can control what the kids have access to. Secondly, they’re robust and durable with a shatterproof screen and re-engineered frame featuring an energy-absorbing, wrap-around bumper. Which basically means when the kids are being kids, their new kids Leap Pad will go the distance!
As the kids get older, they will be able to utilise so many more features on their LeapPads too. So it’s a great investment for the long term.
The games, books and apps are very interactive and engaging with colourful and clear graphics. If things get too noisy, there’s also a handy sliding volume button.
Further LeapPad game cartridges can be purchased too. I’ve been looking at other paid and free LeapFrog games online – just don’t tell my kids that!

A great device for my curious son who I love to see learning independently.
I love seeing my curious son learn independently. This would be a great device for him.
Little Miss is begging for a tablet of her own. This would be ideal!
We are travelling with our LO on a 15hr flight and need ways to entertain/distract him.
I would love to win for my daughter, it looks a great educational tablet Leapfrog make fantastic educational toys. My daughter loves playing games and learning, taking photos and copying what mummy does when working on the computer. Kids learn so much about technology at a young age these days, it’s a great advantage for school.
I’d love to gift my daughter a LeapPad as a fun yet educational after Chrismas treat! Playing on a conventional tablet is neat but a LeapPad has all the others beat! From being tough as nails to looking after a pet snail, there are so many pluses and no fusses! LeapPad, the ultimate kids boredom solver and mummy sanity saver!
For both my boys age 6 & 3 because like you we don’t let them play with our phones and they only get to play on the ipad at grandma’s house!
I’d love to win this for my 3 year old whose always hopping from thing to thing.
She never sits still, she’s always on the go
A leap frog leap pad would help me out. It would give me some rest and a warm cup of tea so please mim gift one to me.
My granddaughters would love a leap frog leap pad the apps look great they would love the pet app and the other apps are something the girls would use and also learn

Theae look like a safe way for my kids to build computer skills and have fun with no need to worry about content and people online doing the wrong thing.
For my son so I can try to get him off my ipad!
The LeapPad would be perfect for camping,
To give my daughter a better understanding,
That education can be fun and exciting,
And to help her learn her reading and writing!
My two daughters would love this LeapPad to keep them entertained on long car trips and just learning and having fun in general!
I would like to win this for my son, because Leapfrog is so great at keeping his attention on learning.
I would love to win this for my 3 year old grandson, Ben so he could get a head start before he starts kindy :)
Having a leap pad ultimate for rainy days is all good and well, but what about the days when your kid doesn’t want to wear pants? I’d love to win this for my gorgeous friend’s daughter who is 3yo. She is full of golden favourite phrases which include, “I don’t want to wear pants” “I don’t want to eat real food” and “May we please buy this?” She is a gorgeous girl and her brother has a leap pad and she would love to have one too but it isn’t my friend’s budget.
Thanks for the chance!
I would love a LeapPad for my kids to share and learn some great things, where I don’t have to monitor the content and is user friendly.
My five year old is developmentally delayed. Her speech/language therapist actually recommended a LeapPad like this one for her, but as it was out of our price range, we purchased a very cheap tablet… which my daughter promptly dropped and shattered on our concrete porch! Replacing that with an actual LeapPad thanks to Mim would not only be wonderfully beneficial for our little girl, it would also mean we could walk barefoot on the porch in future without fear of being cut up by tiny shards of broken tablet screen glass!
I’d love to win this for my 3 little ones (aged 6, 4 and 3)! You can imagine the fights that happen when trying to share my smartphone between them, although they are getting better at sharing! I’d love a tablet dedicated just for their apps, it’d be especially handy during the next few weeks of our Wet Season while we pack up our house to move interstate, then the plane flights to our new home, and then for a few weeks after we arrive while we wait for all our possessions (especially toys!) to arrive with the removalists. Plus anything that’s educational and sparks creativity always gets the ‘big tick’ of approval from me!
This would be perfect for my youngest son Kaleb. He is 3 so were starting to get school ready. He loves using the educational apps on my tablet, but I’d love a more durable, purpose built devixe that wont be broken.
Thank you for the opportunity.
My almost 3yo would love showing this off to master 9….finally a tech device that is all hers and she is allowed to touch it. I’m positive that she would tease him with it…..she is a sassy power hungry toddler that uses her brains for evil ?
I would love to win a leappad for my girls to share, because with one starting school and the other being home, they would be good to learn and also learn sharing, too! And mum likes teaching sharing.
My Miss 3 would love one of these. She is constantly “borrowing” her older sister’s ipads much to their horror (as she has cracked a few screens in her short life). She would adore having a “pi pad” of her very own.
My almost 2 year old who screams until he gets my iPad this will be much safer for him to use
I love Leapfrog what a fantastic product!! This would be perfect for all 3 of my children aged 6, 3 & 2yrs ? it’s fun, educational & will keep them busy allowing me to have some me time ? it would be so helpful on car trips & waiting rooms too thanks for the chance Merry Christmas
Our Master 4 moves into Prep next year, the awesome LeapFrog LeapPad would be an excellent addition to his learning please.
I would love this for my little boy. I love that this makes learning fun. It would keep him entertained and help him learn.
Would love this for my little girl that loves games and its a sneaky way for kids to learn and not realize it
Ethan is 4 years old and totally inquisitive about everything and truck crazy. This would give him an intro to technology and an avenue for both learning and entertainment. Thanks.
i have a 3 year old grandson, Hudson, who has an insatiable appetite for learning. i would love to be able to Leap him into this interactive, vivid learning tool.
I have two children ages 3 and 4 so LeapPad would be ideal as an early learning device for them. They love watching YouTube on the tablet but I would much prefer that they had an educational LeapPad. Fingers crossed for us!!!
