Why You Should Make Lists To Be Super Organised!

Why you should make Lists is in collaboration with Listium.

If you’ve been a reader for a while, or if you’re a friend or someone I’ve worked with, you’ll know how much I love making lists. I’m always wondering what new lists I should make!

Why you should make lists!

I find that writing down or typing everything I need to get done, or remember, so therapeutic. As well as that, I love the process of ticking off my lists as I get things done. Even small tasks give me the same buzz when I tick them off as bigger jobs.

Making lists makes me happy, keeps me organised and in turn, reduces my stress levels.

Do you make lists? If you do, read on, you’re going to love this!

There are many ways I make lists – from hand-writing my weekly plans in my Erin Condren LifePlanner, to keeping excel or Google spreadsheets. Don’t get me started on Pinterest – you’ll see how my love for list-making extends to pretty pictures too!

Recently I found Listium – the name intrigued me immediately!

Listium app

The Listium app

Listium loves lists too. Their unique website gives you all the tools you need to make lists, keep them together and share them with others. You can share them with the whole world if you choose to or keep them to yourself!

You can find out more about them here:

Listium Website

Sign up is easy, with your Google or Facebook account. You then choose a username and you’re in.

You’re then taken to your Dashboard where you can choose to make a new list and see the ones you’ve viewed, liked and shared from other list-makers.

I’ve created a list to plan out my upcoming blog posts – in fact Listium is PERFECT for bloggers who want to get more organised and keep a track of their workflow.

In this list, I can add in all of my posts from the initial concept stage right through to drafting, sign off and publication.

I can allocate tasks to an assistant, add in relevant links and share it with other collaborators if I choose to.

It’s so easy to create exactly the kind of list you need. It might be a simple shopping list or to do list, with items and a box to check them off.

Or how about a bucket list of places you want to travel or TV shows you don’t want to miss? You can add completion dates and even ratings in one click!

How you can use Listium to suit your list-making needs is limitless – the list is endless. Pun totally intended.

In their own words, Listium is “a bit like a spreadsheet, but much nicer” and this is so accurate for how I’ve found it. To a lot of people, spreadsheets are dull or difficult to manage and for others, their lives depend on them. Listium has taken the benefits of spreadsheets and created an easy list-making process that everyone can manage. Then they’ve put a big bow on top and make them pretty and shareable too.

What would you use Listium to create a list for? A holiday, work, wedding planning? Something else?

Why You Should Make Lists - Love from Mim

Hope you enjoyed my post on why you should make lists!

  1. 11th October 2017 / 12:23 am

I love making lists but using apps to create lists sometimes scare me. I worry that I write it down and then I won’t ever look at it because it gets a bit confusing and then forget something important.

I use evernote as the only online version of list making. I’ve tried a few others but always keep coming back to evernote just because it is easy to use and you can use it on phone and laptop. I’ll still keep trying others though and will give this one a go too.

      12th October 2017 / 11:44 am

Oh I live by lists too! I haven’t tried Ever note yet but will do as well – always looking for new ways to keep organised :)

  2. 27th March 2017 / 1:09 am

I would make a list of the books I’ve read because I read so much that sometimes I forget.

  3. 26th March 2017 / 10:25 pm

I would use it for the weekly tasks. With three girls there are so many things to do that the kids and I forget so it would be a great way to list the things that need taking each day ie homework, cooking materials for home tech and what instruments to send them in with on each day.

I love lists, I think I would use it to make a list of things I need to buy for the home :) x

    26th March 2017 / 11:59 am

I would make a list of chores and who should do them to stay organized

  8. 26th March 2017 / 9:57 am

Listium will help me focus in on getting my new blog launched. The bigger details are getting in the way of what I need to do to get started. Also, I have to find things like my account info for hosting, etc. I can store the info all on Listium. Yay – Thanks, Mim!

  9. 26th March 2017 / 9:57 am

I like making lists and I cannot lie
It gives me a pleasure that I can’t deny
That when you’ve got lots to do with no time to waste
And a toddler in your face
You feel strung (out), want to pull up tough
‘Cause you know there’s no time and you’ll be stuffed
Now get the pen and start your writing
    I’m hooked and I can’t stop listing

Honestly, I’d keep a list of movies and films I want to watch on Listium. It’s so hard to actually watch movies when you have a small child and then new movies come up and then when you’re in Big W or Kmart or Target you realise you’ve missed out on a whole slew of movies that you had wanted to see, but couldn’t remember that you wanted to see. Um…does this happen to anyone else other than me?

I am struggling quite a bit with uni, and am just starting to get into the habit of scheduling, so I would mainly use Listium for a list of things to do! But additionally I would use it to plan everyday things in life, such as travel, meeting with parents, playing with friends and such :)

  14. 26th March 2017 / 12:49 am

I’d make a list of things to achieve and add a new one weekly

I wasn’t in an abusive relationship and then after I had my son was diagnosed with PTSD . Alongside baby brain and stress my memory is so bad it’s like my Brian has no room for anything other then the basics to survive. I would write lists for things that need to be done/brought/phone calls to make etc on a daily and weekly basis . School , doctor, shopping all these things need a bit of help with a Listium ????????

  20. Rebecca
    25th March 2017 / 7:28 pm

I am such a list maker some days it gets me thru each day. I suffer servre depression and sometimes when I write a list for just the mundane day to day chores like get up, have a shower, have breakfast sometimes it would be hard because I never completed the list when I finally came to the realization even if I only ticked off one that was an accomplishment. When the depression was at bay my normal lists were always a good feeling to have it all crossed off, it a great feeling my main lists are fortnightly budget, shopping list and errands and jobs for the weeks. I also have a goals book, which goes to daily goals right up to fantasy goals… Always good to dream and aim high, cause you just might get there..

  35. Cate
    21st March 2017 / 4:16 am

Mine would have to be a ‘return to work’ list. Yikes-even harder to see it in writing! With my oldest just starting school and my youngest starting childcare it’s going to be a real juggling act to keep juggling everything (and to not let all of the balls come crushing down!) Lists are going to be so important in keeping us all on track.

  36. Jacky B

    Kelly Ellen Hirst

  41. 18th March 2017 / 2:47 pm

As a list-lover and someone who is notorious for loosing paperwork, I love that everything is one spot. I need to start lists for: moving house, learning a new language, uni work, workouts, meal ideas and any other excuse a girl can find to create lists before I loose my sanity with paperwork spread all over the house.

  42. 18th March 2017 / 2:37 pm

I’m building a new website. I’m finding a list really helps. The problem is the list gets longer and longer! Who’d think it’s so complicated?

  43. Kylie Embury
    18th March 2017 / 12:14 pm

Everything! Lists keep me sane! The biggest one at the moment would be planning for my eldest son’s 18th (eek) in August!

  44. Victoria Prince
    18th March 2017 / 7:09 am

I’d make a freezer inventory list! I love, love, love lists. I have numerous spreadsheets and make lists for everything!

    • Victoria Prince
      18th March 2017 / 7:17 am

Oops, got a bit carried away then :) the why – because I freeze so much food I am forever forgetting what is in there, so a list would help me keep track

  45. Margaret GALLAGHER
    18th March 2017 / 5:38 am

Lists for shopping -bulk buys and weekly
List of chores and rewards too

  46. samara McRae
    16th March 2017 / 8:50 pm

I absolutely LOVE lists. I have a constant to do list so would definitely create a new one of those.

  47. Lauren Piontek
    16th March 2017 / 2:28 pm

My house is filled with random pieces of paper with ‘to-do’s’ and ‘don’t forgets’ jotted down, as well as chore lists for my husband, son and I. On my phone/iPad I make my shopping lists, project plans and vacation itineraries. There isn’t much I wouldn’t use Listium for but to begin with I would make a list for our next vacations itinerary so that all details, whether small or big can be found in one place.

  48. Anthea Cornish
    15th March 2017 / 7:48 pm

A list of household chores and repairs that need doing. Also would like to list competitions i have done.

    15th March 2017 / 12:44 am

50 things to do before I die list

  51. 13th March 2017 / 11:53 am

It would have to be a beat the baby list as we have renovations to finish, a house to baby proof, baby things to buy, and so much more it’s a little overwhelming with less than 9 weeks to go Listium would be a lifesaver at helping us get organised before our little one arrives!

  52. amy bondoc
    12th March 2017 / 11:02 pm

im an obsessive list maker, shopping lists, chore lists anything i can list gets listed!

  53. 12th March 2017 / 10:31 pm

I would probably start a personal bibliograph because I read so much that I’m often unsure which books I’ve read.

  54. 12th March 2017 / 10:13 pm

Do I have to just pick one? I’d use it for blog posts, to organize work assignments, reading lists for myself and my son, buying birthday and Christmas presents. It sounds like it would organize my life for me ;)

  55. Emma Walton
    12th March 2017 / 9:48 pm

I always make lists otherwise I forget things so I would make a ‘to do’ list.

  56. Melissa Turner
    11th March 2017 / 3:47 pm

I’m list obsessed and have lists scribbled on scraps of paper everywhere and can never find the one I’m looking for so it will be a huge relief to have all my lists accessible on my mobile! I’ll start by creating a list on Listium for all the Melbourne events and festivals I want to attend this year – need to plan and organise social gatherings otherwise I just don’t get around to going.

  57. 11th March 2017 / 1:49 pm

I can’t live without a to do list. Running a business and organising the kids means I always have at least 20 items that need addressing! This system looks great and would also be handy for planning my blog posts when I get time to do that too!

  58. Maria
    11th March 2017 / 11:49 am

Oh, a shopping list for sure. I do start to write one on paper and then I misplace the paper. :(

  59. 11th March 2017 / 11:09 am

Without a list of what I want to do on the computer, I find that I have just wasted hours doing absolutely nothing I got on there to do! So would probably make it my home page if I could so I’d be instantly reminded that I wasn’t there to while away the hours but to achieve something!

  60. Kim Campbell
    11th March 2017 / 10:11 am

My lists would include appointmenst for the kids, the pets, me, the shopping, the bills due, I need lists or I can’t cope.

  61. 11th March 2017 / 9:40 am

I would use it to organise my son’s social event’s, friends’ birthdays, my work schedule and anything else I need to keep track of xx

I always make list because I’m so forgetful!

  63. Karen Bowen
    11th March 2017 / 1:34 am

A basic to-do list would help me immensely. I would be able to feel a sense of achievement each time I managed to complete one of the vast amount of tasks listed.

  64. Deb Smith
    11th March 2017 / 12:28 am

I would make lists of things I want to do in each room of my house….cleaning, organizing, etc. Probably make a christmas gift idea list too. I love lists ????

  65. 10th March 2017 / 6:12 pm

I have made a list of my work/life balance goals such as earnings targets, experiences we wish to have and then a notes section to regularly ‘check in’ to see how we are doing.

  66. 10th March 2017 / 6:11 pm

I’d make to-do lists! I’d use Listium to organise them into categories though – work/personal/mummy stuff/blog ideas and more. What a great idea for an app!

  67. Tanya
    10th March 2017 / 5:48 pm

I would make a list of all of my lists! Then I would know which lists I had going for any particular project and items wouldn’t just get added to the miscellaneous list.

  68. B Alexandra

I’d create a list of costume dramas that I haven’t seen and want to watch. They’re a passion of mine and I know lots of other people who’d find a list like that useful too.

  70. Hellen Wieten
    10th March 2017 / 12:53 pm

I use a list just to help me remember all the things that I need to do. Thank you for the entry.

  80. Sonia Chang
    8th March 2017 / 10:15 am

The reason I need to make lists for my daily activities and special events, because I do not have a super memory to remember everything. This is why I need to write it down for keeping organised. I enjoy it and encouraging my two autistic children to make their lists too. Life is beautiful but I need to avoid unseen problems. I don’t like to say “sorry ” because I forgot something for someone. It is a awful feeling, I love to make fun lists and drawings some funny pictures on my lists , just for fun . “Keep It and organise it” is my favourite thing to do every day.

  81. Jodie Cook
    8th March 2017 / 7:54 am

  84. 7th March 2017 / 1:07 pm

I’d do a weekly menu for nine month olds!

  85. Hannah Carroll

  86. Rosie
    5th March 2017 / 6:05 am

As soon as I saw this, my organizing antennas went up! Nothing gives me a rush like checking things off the list. Several, actually! Someone once said to me that I look like a “list” person – boy, did they get that right. However, the one list I haven’t yet started that I want to do this year is to make a keepsake for each of my nieces and nephews. I have been thinking of masculine pillows for guys, and for the gals, depends, and for the little tykes one I have already made a matching sun hat and heart-shaped pocketbook. I’d like to try Listium, although I’m too shy to have my list made public!!!

  87. Adrienne HARRIES
    4th March 2017 / 7:18 pm

    i do lists everyday
helps me know what i got to do that day
tick them off as they’re done
any missed gets added to top on new one
sometimes it takes a long time to get through
but keeps me on track with all that i do
work, family, home and social too
always so much to remember and do

  88. 4th March 2017 / 3:07 pm
